Type Locality and Naming

Includes in SE Murghab district (Istyk type Dunkeldyk area). It is distinguished by V. I. Dronov in 1968.

Lithology and Thickness

It is universally divided into three parts. The lower part of the suite (Djangisuy member (джангисуйская Толща)), with a thickness of up to 45 m, is composed of finely layered cherts with limestone interlayers; the middle (Bosterek member (бозтеринская толща), with a thickness of up to 15 m, is composed of massive and coarse-bedded limestones; the upper (Kurudzhilgin member), with a thickness of up to 25 m, is composed of finely layered cherts and calcareous-chert shales with limestone interlayers.

Fossils

Organic remains are contained in all members. The Djangisuy member at the bottom includes Anisian-Ladinian pelecypods - Posidonia wengensis W.issm., P. alta Mojs. et al., in the middle and upper parts - Ladino-Carnian pectinids - Daonella pichleri Bitt., D. reticulata Mojs., D. indica Bitt. The Bozterinskaya formation contains Early Carnian ammonoids - Jovites aff. daci Mojs., Tropites estellae Mojs. Kyruzhilgin member contains abundant remains of Late Carnian-Early Norian pectinids Halobia austriaca Mois., H. cassiana Mojs., H. charlyana Mojs.
